Transition Studies and European Studies
The team members and partners of the Inter-University Centre conduct co-operation and research projects in Europe with a particular emphasis on Central and Eastern Europe.
The team members and partners of the Inter-University Centre have rich practical experience obtained from advisory activity and interdisciplinary co-operation, in particular with the transition countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
The Institute for Eastern European Studies, where the Berlin Office of the Inter-University Centre is situated, together with the University Library and the other Berlin libraries holds the largest stock of literature on Central and Eastern Europe on the continent. Along with the wide range of literature and databases on German, foreign and international law held by the Law Faculty of the Free University of Berlin, excellent sources of information are available.
Current research topics include:
- Employee financial participation under German and European law
- Privatisation, reprivatisation, functional changes of property rights and participation in Eastern and Western Europe
- Insolvency law in the EU Member States and Candidate Countries
- The EU's financing and development funds - legal foundations, programmes, methods of operation, project planning, application procedure, financial control, project draft and project organisation
